Si Aoi est parvenue à concrétiser son rêve de travailler en tant qu’assistante de production dans un petit studio d’animation, la réalité est loin d’être idyllique : au bord de la faillite après l’annulation de « Time Hippopotamus », Musashino Animation traverse une période de crise sans précédent. Sur le point d’abandonner tout espoir, la jeune femme se voit confier la gestion d’une série originale, susceptible de sauver l’entreprise. Mais à quelques mois de la date butoir, constituer une nouvelle équipe de production s’avère particulièrement difficile.
