Une soucoupe volante venue d'une autre planète surgit dans le ciel terrestre, projetant un rayon aux propriétés stupéfiantes. Toute personne exposée voit son comportement modifié de manière significative. Sam Adams, un détective, enquête sur cette affaire particulièrement inquiétante. Il entend retrouver une petite fille de 6 ans, Tammy, disparue depuis que ces prétendus extraterrestres se sont manifestés. La gamine refait très bientôt surface. Mais elle ne revient pas vraiment les mains vides. Sam est stupéfait : elle apporte un message provenant des créatures venues d'ailleurs.
